Garden Girl

To grow a shoot or sprout that was once enveloped in the ground, once covered in soil is the easiest way to bring bounds of happiness into one's life. When I first began my garden, I was a novice, a real rookie... I'd seen my mother wiling away time in the veggie garden, and as a child I was too busy on the swing or in the pool or dancing under the trees to take much notice of how the veggies grew.
I had no training in school, something I wish I'd been privy to. The only thing I had to go on was instinct, trial & error and as a last resort I had the option of the internet.
I first planted my seedlings too close, as eager as I was I hadn't realised each and every seed would sprout, and soon my broccoli and kale seedlings were interweaving. They remained as they were, little sprouts. I remember when I brought home my first kale seedlings from Soil For Life and I spent the afternoon turning the soil, wetting their roots and then when dusk fell, I placed those beautiful possibilities into the ground and went to bed. Nights and days passed, rains pattered and poured over my little possibilities and I watched with growing excitement as they peeked slowly through the dense dirt. And then they didn't stop. They grew and continue to grow. Thanks given with a grateful heart, I occasionally pick leaves for my salad or green juice. My herbs, although not in the pictures below, are regular attendees in my evening dishes and wafts of rosemary, thyme and basil flow out into the night in streams of steam.

Wild Freedom

au revior (goodbye, until we meet again)

Releasing the old thought patterns, the doubts, the worries, the social conformity, the unhealthy beliefs. I breathe in the new. Now I am breaking through taboos, creating revitalised thoughts and ideals, surrounding myself by beauty, not conforming to society, beliefs that revive and replenish me, giving over my worries to a higher energy and letting positivity flow through me.

Lazy Sundays
I rest easy,
the sun rests too
unconcerned by it's journey.
the hours for it
are routine
yet each day
it chooses a new display.
clouds,
clear skies,
rainstorms
or rainbows,
the sun, with the help of the elements
feels comfortable, uncontrolled.
the whole sun demands my attention
breaking through to my heart
shining upon every inch of skin
it drifts,
beating down,
cooling lazily.
I turn over and over and over again
and then aware of the day's nearing end,
I sigh,
a full, languid sigh.
Clothes layered on,
blankets upon the couch,
the kettle boils,
I cannot help but smile.
Sunday is leaving,
but not without
a few more hours of lazy movements,
treasured moments,
and pondering of life's magic creations.

Summery Sentiments

The scent of spring is around the corner and no one is more excited than me of the summery promise it brings. Lazy mornings sprawled out soaking in the sun, rays of colour passing before our eyes as another steamy day passes and contentment of night time arises.

I dream of dream-catcher patterns flickering across my bedroom floor, bird-song drawing me out of sleep, the salt of the ocean drawing my skin tightly against my bones after a noon-day swim, fine hairs caught up in the whisk of a warm breeze...
These make up my dreams.

Divine Feminine

"Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force,
filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing.
Her name is wild woman, but she is an endangered species."
 - Women who run with the Wolves

"Don't forget love, it will bring you all the madness
you need to unfurl yourself across the universe."
- Mirabai
